the hidden truths behind soulja boy’s “$400 million” deal

Mr “Kiss Me Through The Phone” confirmed the news in a statement released on the WPF website when he said:
“I invest in things I understand. I enjoy music, and of course gaming. Being an influencer is a form of currency. Having portfolio diversification is critical if you want to be an effective brand ambassador. With regards to World Poker Fund, I believe in its strategy, its team, the vision, and management’s ability to target its financial goals.”
So what about that $400 million? Does it come in cash? Does it come in installments? Can he spend it all right now? Actually, it’s a bit complicated. After doing some digging, it turns out that the maximum he can earn is $400 million. But he’s getting nothing close to that (for now).
The deal involves a lot of moving pieces and relies on the success of the much talked about in-flight gaming system. A spokesperson close to the whole matter, Matthew Bird, confirmed:
“He really kind of jumped the gun. The deal is capped at $400 million, and it’s based on a forward-thinking valuation of the company. He’s young, he’s 25 years old. He got really excited, and he tweeted something he probably shouldn’t have tweeted. He was getting a lot of pressure from within the entertainment community, so he wanted to put a statement out. Obviously, the company’s market cap is at $51.8 million. There’s no way they could cut a $400 million deal.”
So if all goes well, Soulja Boy could definitely be breaking into the Forbes richest rappers top 5 in the next 5 years. For now, however, he’s just a considerably wealthy rapper who has signed a deal with a lot of potential.
